Particulars of the Organization

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) established the National Research Centre on Rapeseed-Mustard (NRCRM) on October 20, 1993 and redesignated it as the Directorate of Rapeseed- Mustard Research (DRMR) in February 2009 to carry out basic, strategic, and applied research on rapeseed-mustard. Besides, generating basic knowledge and material, the Directorate is also engaged in developing ecologically sound and economically viable agro production and protection technologies. Monitoring of Performance is being done annually by Research Advisory Committee (RAC), Institute Management Committee (IMC) and half yearly by Institute Research Council (IRC) at the Directorate. Public Information Officer has been working in the Directorate to provide desired information to public as per rules.

Powers

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research is a registered society governed by its own rules and bye-laws for its functioning. The administrative and financial rules and procedures framed by the Government of India from time to time are followed mutatis mutandis in all matters including SR/FR.

Functions

ICAR delegated Administrative and financial powers to the Director and also regularly revised and update.

Mandate

1. Basic, strategic and adaptive research on rapeseed-mustard to improve the productivity and quality.
2. Provide equitable access to information, knowledge and genetic material to develop improved varieties and technologies.
3. Coordination of applied research develop location specific varieties and technologies
4. Technology dissemination and capacity building

Institute Research Council (IRC)

Functions

• Consideration and evaluation of the Research projects (RPF I)/. The Principal Investigator will make representative of the Research Project to IRC. The IRC will reject /recommend the Research Project along with the duration.

• Consideration and evaluation of the on-going Projects ( RPF II Annual Progress Reports) in consultation with external experts. The IRC will make specific recommendations about the achievements and shortcomings of the Projects.

• Advise fostering of linkages between the groups/Divisions/ Institutes in respect of multi-disciplinary Projects / multi-location Projects.

• Monitor the follow up action on the recommendations of QRTs with respect to technical programmes of the Institute.

• Any other function as may be assigned to it by the Director of the Institute or The Director-General,ICAR.

Functions

• To suggest research programmes based on national and global context of research in the thrust areas.
• To review the research achievements of the Institute and to see that these are consistent with the mandate of the Institute.
