A Kisan-Gosthi was successfully organized on the topic of “Food and Nutrition for Farmers” by ICAR-Directorate of Rapeseed-Mustard Research, Bharatpur, Rajasthan on 26th August 2021 to celebrate the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”. On this occasion 50 farmers of the Nyotha, Shahpur, Jharkai, Kawai, & Lakhanpur villages of Nadbai Taluka; Satyanagar, Chaukipura, & Nagla-Jivana villages of Kumher Taluka; Dhaur village of Sewar Taluka and Hataini village of Bharatpur Taluka of Bharatpur district participated. Director, ICAR-DRMR, Dr P.K. Rai addressed the farmers and explained about the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the independence of our nation. He also briefed the farmers about the food and nutritional safety of our country and their role in achieving this goal. He explained to farmers about the biofortified varieties developed by various ICAR institutes and advance mustard production techniques. To achieve the nutritional security of the farmers, seeds of high yielding mustard varieties were distributed. The event was widely reported and popularized by the local newspapers.
