ICAR-Directorate of Rapeseed-Mustard Research, Bharatpur celebrated its Silver Jubilee Foundation day on October 20, 2018
Dr. A. K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Horticulture & Crop Science), ICAR, New Delhi graced the occasion as Chief guest and delivered foundation day lecture.Dr. Arvind Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University, Jhansi, UP was Guest of Honour on this occasion.
Dr. A. K. Singh appreciated the work done by the Directorate over the last 25 years. On this occasion, he emphasised that, to meet the increasing demand of edible oil and minimize the import bill on edible oil, rapeseed-mustard can play an important role. He further emphasized that there is an urgent need to develop farmer friendly technologies to minimize losses caused by biotic and abiotic stresses. He urged to explore the possibilities to use newer technologies such as gene editing in rapeseed-mustard improvement program.
Dr. Arvind Kumar said that, after its inception, the Directorate played a significant role in development of new high yielding varieties as well as production and protection technologies which increased rapeseed-mustard productivity in the country.
On this occasion, DDG inaugurated 150 KWP roof-top solar power system and laid the foundation stone of community centre. On this occasion, he also unfolded Silver Jubilee stone.
Three publication including DRMR Annual Report 2017-18 were also released on the occasion.
